Lloyd A. Noble

Lloyd Arthur Noble, the son of Guy Wilson Noble and Magdelena "Mattie" Hunzeker Noble, was born May 2, 1924 at rural Belleville, KS and passed away on July 13, 2013 at Republic County-Long Term Care, Belleville, KS at the age of 89 years, 2 months, and 11 days.
Lloyd grew up in Belleville, KS and later moved to Strathmore, CA where he attended high school for two years, later returning to Belleville High School. He also attended trade school in Chicago, Illinois.
Lloyd served with the U. S Army during W. W. II, attaining the rank of corporal. He served overseas in the European Theater of Operations, North Africa, and Italy for 18 months with the ninety-first Infantry Division as a rifleman. He was awarded the European Theater of Operation Ribbon with three Battle Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation, and the Purple Heart from wounds received in Italy. He served from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1945.
In his early years, Lloyd shined shoes in his father's barbershop, worked at George Minkins Bakery, and Harber Ice Cream/Ice Plant. Lloyd later worked for Frye Electric, wiring REA houses. Lloyd then worked for the City of Belleville-Street Department, retiring after 27 years.
Lloyd was a member of the Central Christian Church, lifetime member of the Belleville V.F.W. and American Legion Posts, a member of the Kiwanis Club of Belleville, a lifetime member of the Sons of the American Revolution, and was involved in Boy Scouts in his earlier years. He enjoyed working with wooden crafts, taking part in the Farmer's Market and craft shows for many years.
On September 18, 1993 at San Antonio, TX, he was united in marriage to Lois "Jean" Kalivoda. The couple made their home in Belleville.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters: Mable Wakefield and Esther Gray.
Lloyd is survived by his wife Jean Noble of Belleville, KS; brother, Harold Noble of Belleville, KS, sister, Violet Awalt of Belleville, KS, nephews and nieces: Robert (Vonda) Wakefield, Joyce Caylor, Richard (Nancy) Wakefield, Raymond (Carol) Wakefield, Roger (Melva) Wakefield, Roy (Mary) Wakefield, Gary (Deb) Gray, Bruce (Trish) Gray, Sharon Huffman, and LaDona (Dan) Racette, two step sons: Mike (Tammy) Wickstrum, and Max Wickstrum all of Cuba, KS; step granddaughter, Megan Wickstrum, and step great granddaughter, Avery Jo Wickstrum, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the Central Christian Church, with Pastor Mark Imel, officiating.
Interment with Military Graveside Rites will be held at the Belleville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9AM until 9PM on Monday at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS.
Memorials are suggested to Central Christian Church or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
