Becker Autos & Trailers to Donate a Portion of All Sales to Local Relay for Life in October
In honor of breast cancer awareness month, throughout October Becker Autos and Trailers will be donating money from each vehicle and each trailer sale to the local Relay for Life.
"We were first contacted by Mitchell and Osborne County Relay for Life directors, Jessica Brummer and Christie Fouts with the idea of donating during October, and thought it would be a great way to help raise money" said Lydia Housh, manager of Becker Autos & Trailers in Beloit.  "In our family, we have seen my young cousin go through chemo and radiation just last year; just this Sunday, I heard news of a past co-worker of only 36 years of age passing away from complications of Breast Cancer after struggling with it for over 4 years.  Those are just a couple of recent examples of how cancer can affect anyone.  Everyone has been affected by cancer in some way."
For every vehicle or trailer purchase from Becker Autos & Trailers in Downs and Beloit in October a donation will be made to the Mitchell and Osborne County Relay for Life which will be held Saturday, June 7th 2014 at the Mitchell County Fairgrounds.  All money raised for the Mitchell and Osborne County Relay for Life stays in our area to help with those affected by cancer in our counties.  For questions or more information please contact Lydia Housh at 785-534-1227 or stop by the Beloit Becker Autos & Trailers location.  Find out more about Becker Autos & Trailers and look at their inventory online at beckerautos.com.

The newly formed Solomon Valley Community Foundation is off to a great start towards its Founder's Campaign goal of $500,000. The Foundation is an excellent opportunity for individuals and companies to establish endowed funds which will award grants on a semi-annual basis to worthy projects in the Mitchell County area. Many of the Founding Donors to date have made gifts on an unrestricted basis while others have also desired to set up specific name funds or scholarship funds that follow the Donor's direction under a memorandum of understanding. These endowed gifts will allow annual payments of 5% to be paid out to designated causes. Commitments to date total $246,000.

The Foundation is a permanent, steady, and secure source for grants that will address present and future community needs. The Foundation is a vehicle for permanent charitable giving through current donations as well as bequests that will benefit the Mitchell County area.

Should individuals, businesses, local organizations or clubs desire to learn more about Solomon Valley Community Foundation and its efforts to benefit our communities, they can call (785) 534-1126 or contact any of the board members who are: Curt Frasier, Barb Wise, Darcel McPeak, Jim Gates, Heather Hartman, Debra Houghton, Phyllis Oetting, Mark Palen, Bob Severance, John Yeary, and Jeff Zimmer.
