Harold C. Mitchell

Harold Charles Mitchell, the son of Raymond Mitchell and Gladys (Campbell) Mitchell was born September 8, 1925 at rural Byron, NE and passed away on October 7, 2013 at Republic County Hospital, Belleville, KS at the age of 88 years and 29 days.
Harold received his early education in the rural Washington township elementary schools, graduating from Byron High School. He attended Kansas State University, graduating with an associate's degree.
On November 21, 1948, he was united in marriage to Edna Bowen and to this union was born: Karen and Kevin.
Harold was a hard worker his entire life. He began at his parents Meat Market in Byron and later in their implement business in Belleville, KS. His first love was raising crops and beef cattle on his farm in rural Republic.
Harold was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belleville, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Edna.
Harold is survived by his children: Karen (Larry) Cheney, of rural Republic, KS and Kevin (Tammy) Mitchell of Chicago, Illinois; one brother, Maurice Mitchell of Chester, NE; best friend Esther Spangler of Belleville, KS; other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, October 11, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church, Belleville, KS with Pastor Emily Meckley, officiating.
Interment will be at the Washington Cemetery, rural Republic, KS.
Visitation will be from One PM until Nine PM on Wednesday, and from
Nine AM until Nine PM on Thursday at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home.
