Verda D. Greene, age 87, died Tues., Oct. 29, 2013 at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia. She was born on a farm in rural Wamego, KS on March 30, 1926 to George "Butch" & Rose (Orsborn) Knipp.
Verda graduated from Westmoreland High School in 1944, she then attended nursing school at St. Mary's Hospital in Manhattan. She married Larry Greene on Aug. 6, 1947 in Westmoreland after he returned home from the war. Larry preceded her on Dec. 13, 2008. Verda was a surgical nurse and worked in various hospitals before moving to Concordia, where she worked at St. Joseph's Hospital for over 28 years until her retirement in 1988. Verda was a member of The Baptist Church and a host of women's groups within the church. She also was an avid card player and member of several card clubs; enjoyed quilting & gardening.
Verda is survived by her daughters, Carol Fahring & hus. Marvin, Concordia & Marcia Greene, Salina; grandson, Jason Fahring & wife Michelle, Attica; great grandchildren,
Emelia, Caleb & Addison Fahring, Attica; sister, Jeannie Krouse, Onaga; and she was a special "Kansas" Mother & Grandmother to Quentin & Christine Smith & their children, Abraham, Benjamin & Joshua Smith & their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry & her parents.
It was Verda's wishes to be cremated and Memorial services will be held at 10:30 am, Fri., Nov. 1, 2013 at Concordia Wesleyan Church with Rev. David Redmond & Pastor
Bob Burns officiating. Burial of the cremains will follow the services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. Friends may sign the register book from 9 am to 5 pm, Thurs,
