Bud Beneda

Bud Beneda, the son of Leo Beneda and Emma (Huncovsky) Beneda, was born June 26, 1925 at rural Cuba, KS and passed away on November 5, 2013 at Republic County-Long Term Care, Belleville, KS at the age of 88 years, 4 months, and 10 days.
Bud grew up in the Cuba, KS area, attending Silverthorne Grade School and graduating from Cuba High School in 1944. He served with the U. S. Army during W.W. II from 1944 until 1946, serving in the Philippines. After his honorable discharge, he returned to the area and worked with his father, Leo, in construction. In 1956, he moved to Aurora, CO where he was a carpenter. He returned to Belleville in 1966 and became owner and operator of Beneda Construction. He built and remodeled many homes and businesses for many years. His last job being the renovation of the Blair Theater lobby in Belleville. Bud also was a farmer and rancher, raising longhorns and black angus cattle.
He was united in marriage to Gladys Hess and to this union three daughters were born:
Kathryn, Marilyn and Christine. In 1967, he was united in marriage to Norma (Pack) Peters and two daughters: Pamela and Peggy came to bless the home. The couple made their home in rural Belleville.
Bud was a former member of the Moose Lodge, and a lifetime member of the V.F.W.
In 2012, he participated in the honor flight for veterans to Washington, D.C.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, daughter: Marilyn Bednorz, grandson: Matt Saip, three sisters: Ruth, Jean, and Donna, and a nephew: Kenneth.
Bud is survived by his wife, Norma of Belleville, KS; 4 daughters, Kathryn Carothers of Tennessee, Christine Beneda of Eugene Oregon, Pamela Peters of Belleville, KS, and Peggy (Doug) Hinson of Kansas City, MO; one brother Larry (Dee) Beneda of Lakewood, Colorado; nine grandchildren: Jessica, Sharon, Stephen, Carissa, Paul, Jori, Kirsten, Landon, and Marissa;
seven great grandchildren: Megan, Ethan, Pryor, Madalyn, Kenedi, Jailyn, and Asher; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the
Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, KS with Pastor Mark Imel, officiating.
Interment will follow the services with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Ft. Riley Honor Guard, Ft. Riley, KS.
Visitation will be from One PM until Nine PM on Thursday, and from Nine AM until Nine PM on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the North Central Kansas Honor Flight or the Blair Theater.
