Twin Valley To Join Movember Movement

Growing Moustaches to Raise Awareness for Men's Health
Miltonvale, Kan. Twin Valley is following up their GO PINK Breast Cancer Awareness initiative in October by participating in "Movember" for a second year. Movember is an annual, month-long event involving the growing of moustaches during November to raise awareness of prostate cancer and other male cancer initiatives. The goal of Movember is to "change the face of men's health." In 2012, the Twin Valley team raised a total of $2,300 for the cause, thanks to generous donations from family, friends and the community.

Twin Valley employees will be participating by growing their moustaches through the end of the month, and have registered a team online to promote their participation. Donations will be accepted through the end of November on the Twin Valley team page, with proceeds benefiting prostate and testicular cancer initiatives run by the Movember Foundation, as well as the men's health partners which include the Prostate Cancer Foundation and the LIVESTRONG Foundation.

The rules for participating in "Movember" are as follows: Once registered at movember.com, participants must begin with a clean-shaven face. For the entire month of Movember, each participant must grow and groom a mustache. Upon joining, participants begin fundraising by making their own personalized web pages with photos to document the month.

"The Movember initiative last year was a huge success, as well as fun and meaningful for our employees," said Twin Valley President & CEO Ben Foster. "The community events we participate in generate a true sense of community, and our employees enjoy the camaraderie that these types of initiatives create."

Females are also encouraged to show their support and are regarded to as "Mo Sistas." A Mo Sista can show support in a number of ways, from simply donating to the Mo Bro in their life, or asking a Mo Bro if he's had an annual health check up.

Movember has had quite an impact on the amount of people raising conversations and funds for men's health. Worldwide, Movember had over a million participants who raised $147 million dollars for men's health globally, funding over 560 programs for men's health.
