Eileen Doane, 96, passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013. She was born Feb. 1, 1917, in Downs to Gideon and Ruth (Goheen) Walter.
She was a lifetime member of the Rose Valley United Methodist Church, Downs. Eileen worked to organize the Osborne County Red Cross Volunteers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, in 1984; two brothers, Lloyd Walter and Chet Walter; and a sister, Lucile Freeborn.
Survivors include four sons, Keith (Marsha), of Downs, Brent (Linda), of Portis, Gary (Glennys) and Steve (Heidi), all of Downs; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Maebeth Walter, of Downs; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Rose Valley UMC, Downs. A visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. today at the church.
Memorial funds have been established to the church and Osborne County Red Cross Volunteers. Final resting place will be in the Downs Cemetery.
