Bessie Anna Krob, the daughter of Albert S. Havel and Anna B. (Rott) Havel, was born January 29, 1924 at Cuba, KS and passed away on January 30, 2014 at the Republic County-Long Term Care, Belleville, KS at the age of 90 years and one day.
Bessie's mother passed away when she was seven years old and she was raised by her step-mother, Rosy. Bessie attended the White Country School, two miles south of Cuba, her first eight years of school. She then graduated from Cuba High School, Cuba, KS.
On March 10, 1942, she was united in marriage to Frank R. Krob and to this union was born three children. The couple made their home in Belleville where she worked at the Soil Conservation Office for a time and later was the co-owner and operator of Krob Photographic Studio for many years. Frank and Bessie were married nearly 72 years.
Bessie was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Belleville, KS where she was a member of the U.M.W. She was an accomplished artist, especially in oil, was a master seamstress, and a homemaker.
Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter Brenda Kay, brother, Bob Havel and her step-mother, Rosy.
She is survived by her husband Frank R. Krob of Belleville, KS; one daughter, Carol Joyce Swinney and husband Wendell of Hugoton, KS; one son, Curtis Frank Krob and wife Jacalyn of Salina, KS; one brother, Orval Havel of Wichita, KS, two sisters, Olive Shulda of Belleville, KS and Rosemary Fraser of Fort Walton Beach, FL; two grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, February 3, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, Belleville, KS with Pastor Emily Meckley, officiating.
Interment will be at the Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, KS.
Visitation will be from 1PM until 9 PM on Saturday and Sunday at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home.
