Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems Board of Trustees Meeting 5-19-14

The Board of Trustees for the Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems met last night to hear about progress on the EHR project, to acknowledge employee service anniversaries, and work being done to prepare for the new hospital administrator.

The update the Board heard on the EHR project is that the Citrix and network switch overs are going well and should be on track to meet the July 1 deadline. This all ties into the new patient portal the hospital is implementing, and updates and mapping needed for this project are moving along also. The team working on this project also reported that patients will receive information on the new portal when they are admitted to the hospital. After hearing the report, the Board approved the new patient portal policy that is in conjunction with the implementation of this new system.

The Board also acknowledged service anniversaries of staff members who celebrated an anniversary this month. They are Tegan Boland (Nursing, 5 years), Maddi Sutter (Surgery, 5 years), Ginger Sorenson (Special Care Unit, 10 years), Erin Stewart (Radiology, 15 years), and Ron Botka (Respiratory Therapy, 25 years).

In preparation for the new hospital administrator, a survey was given in which 141 employees and 18 directors participated. The focus of the survey was on the employee work environment and assessing what is working and what is not. Results of this survey were that communication is very important between directors and staff and between departments as well. This information was gathered so the new hospital administrator can have a better picture of what is happening at the hospital when he takes over.

Finally, the Board went over financial and budget reports and closed with an executive session to discuss medical staff credentials.
