CONCORDIA INVITATIONAL TRACK MEET

The Trojan track teams traveled to Concordia for the Concordia Invitational track meet held on Friday, April 8. This meet saw the Trojans run up against some very tough competition from the likes of Concordia, Clay Center, Buhler, Marysville, Sacred Heart, Southern Cloud, Smith Center, and Solomon.

 

When asked about the athlete's overall performances, coach Isbell said “The kids took advantage of their first opportunity and stepped up and competed very well. Most of the athletes had personal best times, distances, and heights. There is work to do, but we are very pleased with our progress to this point”.

 

The Trojan boy’s brought home a total of 17 medals (1 gold, 5 silver, 11 bronze) and finished second with 99 points. Buhler won the meet with 155 points and Sacred Heart was third with 97 points.

 

The gold medal winner for Beloit was Colin Budke in the long jump at 20’8”.

 

The silver medal winners were Brendon Mason in the high jump at 6’0”, and the 4X800m relay team of Blaine Burks, Brendon Mason, Trase McQueen, and Ryan Jackson in 9:06.92.

 

The bronze medal winners were Zach Meier in the 110m high hurdles in 15.89, Vincent Palen in the high jump at 5’10”, Colin Budke in the triple jump at 41’11”, the 4X100m relay team of Tate Ahlvers, Colin Budke, Ryan Jackson, and Zach Meier in 45.21, and the 4X400m relay team of Ryan Jackson, Brendon Mason, Paxton Harris, and Zach Meier in 3:40.82.

 

The Lady Trojans brought home a total of 15 medals (9 gold, 0 silver, 6 bronze) and won the meet with 123 points. Concordia was second with 98 points and Clay Center was third with 97 points.

 

Gold medal winners for Beloit were Kourtni Hubert in the javelin with a new school record throw of 148’0” and the shot put at 40’1”, Sydney Johnson in the discus at 138’0”, Karissa Winkel in the long jump at 16’2.5”, Hannah Burks in the 3200m run in 12:35.12, and the 4X800m relay team of Hayley Burks, Kalista Hubert, Trinity Wagner, and Hannah Burks in 10:48.99.

 

The bronze medal winners were Hayley Burks in the 1600m run in 5:55.71, Khylie Mihm in the 300m hurdles in 54.17, Hanna Pearson in the high jump at 4’10”, MacKenzie VanPelt in the pole vault at 10’6”, Sydney Johnson in the shot put at 37’8”, and Sydney Barrett in the discus at 93’8”.

 

The next action for the Beloit Trojan varsity track teams will be the Redman Relays at Smith Center on Tuesday, April 11. Field events will start at 3:00, preliminaries at 4:00, and the running event finals will begin 30 minutes following the preliminaries.
