The Mitchell County Commissioners met at the Courthouse, Monday, July 10 for their regularly scheduled weekly meeting. All Commissioners were present as was the County Clerk. Also in attendance was Jason Rabe, Beloit City Manager, and Heather Hartman, Solomon Valley Economic Development Specialist.

First on the agenda was an announcement regarding the elevator at the Courthouse. The elevator will be out of service from Monday, July 17th for two to three weeks. Major updates and work will be done to the elevator during this time. Those who rely on the elevator to access the upper floors of the Courthouse should make other arrangements during this time period.

Once again, the elevator in the Mitchell County Courthouse will be Out Of Service for two to three weeks, beginning July 17th.

A Neighborhood Revitalization Grant application from Clint Heller from Hunter was approved. The work to be done is a 49’ x 30’ Morton home in the amount of $200,000.

The Commissioners will not meet on Monday, July 24th. However, they will meet in the fifth Monday of the month on July 31st.

Kelly Hawk, Emergency Medical Services Director was on hand to present the EMS monthly report for June. The ambulance service conducted 43 runs in the month of June. All these were in Mitchell County. The busiest time period was from 8 o’clock until 9 o’clock p.m. Saturday was the busiest day with 11 runs on that day followed by Friday with 7 runs that day. In 37 of the 43 runs the ambulance was on the road in less than two minutes after receiving the call. The average age of the patients in June was between 70 and 79 years of age.

Hawk and the Commissioners discussed the aging ambulance fleet. This topic is one that will need to researched and options need to be developed. A new ambulance costs in excess of $200,000 at the present time. It is obvious that ambulances must be trustworthy and dependable. Their ability to respond to emergency calls is truly a life or death situation.

Cortney Murrow, Mitchell County Health Nurse, presented the Commissioners with WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) contracts with Lincoln and Jewell Counties for the 2017-18 year. These contracts will run from October 31, 2017 to September 1, 2018. Lincoln is the supervising county with funds flowing through Mitchell County to Jewell County.

Murrow reported that the new vaccine refrigerator has been delivered and the vaccines have been transferred to it.

Yvonne Melton, Mitchell County Treasurer, requested a five minute executive session to discuss non-elected personnel. No actions were taken as a result of the closed session.

Having addressed all the items on the agenda, the meeting was adjourned.
