![]() Dr. Jeff Broome, world renowned author and scholar, was the featured speaker at the Mitcchell County Historical Society Annual Meeting Sunday afternoon and spoke on "Native Americans in Mitchell County. He discussed interesting items he found about mitchell county when he was doing research for his book "Dog Soldier Justice." County Historical Society Meeting Draws Crowd A large crowd attended the Mitchell County Historical Society annual meeting held at the site of the new museum home last night. The former American Legion building at North Independence Avenue is being renovated in preparation for moving museum artifacts and records into that building sometime in 2010. Fred Severance, Society President, told the crowd of the progress that has been made in the last three months but said there is a lot more work to be done and that is going to cost money. Severance said they need people to open up their checkbooks and help raise money to do the work that needs to be done. |
