KVSV

Teachers, staff and administration at St. John’s Jr.-Sr. High School and Beloit Jr.-Sr. High School in Beloit rotate weekly in the selection of one student they feel deserves the honor of Student of the Week. A Student of the Week is chosen based on an overall positive attitude, work ethic, behavior, the ability to work well with others, and participation in the civic and church arenas. Academic endeavors play a secondary role in the selection because it is recognized that even though some students may struggle with content, deserving students who work hard in a classroom, model good citizenship and display appropriate behaviors are the most deserving of the title Student of the Week. After a student is chosen, a short biography of the student is aired throughout the week on KVSV. Area merchants and each school provide recognition gifts for the chosen student. Participating merchants for the 2012-13 school year are The Banner and Linton Insurance Agency. Watch our website and listen on KVSV during the school year as we honor our area students.

Student of the Week: Jimmy Broeckelman

Jimmy Broeckelman, a student at Beloit High. Jimmy is an 8^th grader at Beloit High and is the son of Mike & Sharla Broeckelman. Dani Emerson, a student at Beloit High. Dani is a Junior at Beloit High and is the daughter of Lois Emerson and the late Jeff Emerson. Student of the Week: Max Thomas

Max Thomas, a student at St. John's. Max is a senior at St. John's and is the son of Mike & Carol Thomas. KVSV Radio, Linton Insurance Agency, and the Banner Restaurant are proud to honor Max for his outstanding character. Max is most known for his great level of responsibility which he demonstrates by volunteering to assist the St. John's school and the Beloit community. Max serves as student council president and is a member of the basketball and track teams. He is a member of the National Honor Society and was the football team manager. He cleans the St. John's High School gym on a regular basis and does many service projects around the school and community. He helps out on the family farm and at B&C Bus Company that is owned by his parents. He also went on the Diocesan Prayer and Action Summer Mission trip this past summer. Hunter Post, a student at Beloit High. Hunter is a senior at Beloit High and is the son of Mark & Natalie Post. Hunter is a member of the Beloit High Football, Basketball, and Baseball teams and is the CYO Parish Council representative at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She's involved in various school, church, and civic activities. Erin is a member of the volleyball team, scholars bowl, basketball team & track team, also a March for Life participant. She helps with preschool CCD classes, ushers at church and carries gifts at MASS. She demonstrates her compassion for others when she helps elderly neighbors with odd jobs and babysits her brothers & sisters.
