Eldon Trost, Age 70

Eldon R. Trost,70, the son of Carl R. Trost and Verna (Nagel) Trost, was born December 2, 1946 in Concordia, KS and passed away on March 10, 2017 at Mitchel County Health Systems, Beloit, KS. Eldon grew up on the family farm attending elementary school at Huscher, and graduated from Concordia High School. He then attended Kansas State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture. Following his graduating, he taught vo-ag for one year at the Miltonvale High School. Eldon then started a custom hay operation that later branched into agriculture and a full time farming/livestock operation. He was an early pioneer in no-till farming and fertilizer/chemical usage. On September 3, 1967, he was united in marriage to Tana Sherwood and to this union was born: Tandy, Conrad, and Justin. Eldon served with the Army National Guard, Concordia, KS for several years. Eldon was a member of the First United Methodist Church-Belleville, the Republic County Farm Bureau, served on the Cloud Co. Elevator Board, and was a lifetime member of the K-State Alumni Association. He received the American and Kansas Farm Bureau Young Farmer/Rancher Award and while in 4-H was on the State Crop Judging Championship Team in 1962. He also was a FFA State Farmer. Eldon loved wildlife, especially wildflowers, and bird eggs. In his later years, he also enjoyed antiques. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Curtis Trost.

Eldon is survived by his wife Tana Trost of Belleville, KS; one daughter Tandy (Gene) Rundus; two sons, Conrad (Donna) Trost and Justin Trost all of Concordia, KS; daughter-in-law, Jonna Trost; 10 grandchildren, Paul Rundus, Terin Rundus, Colby Trost, Delaney Trost, Bethany Trost, Wyatt Trost, Georgia Trost, Stella Trost, Rubi Trost, and Magnolia Trost; one brother Bruce (Sue) Trost of Concordia, KS; three sisters, Kathy Mitchell of Concordia, KS, Jean (Larry) Buss of Council Grove, KS and Sandy (Gailyn) Boesching of Clay Center, KS; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church, Belleville, KS with Reverend Emily Meckley, officiating. Interment will be at the Zion Cemetery, rural Belleville, KS.

Visitation will be from 1 PM until 8 PM on Monday at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home with the family greeting friends from 6 PM until 8 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Eldon R. Trost Memorial to be designated later. Online condolences at www.bachelor-surber.com
