Donald Dean Boden was born in Beloit, Kansas, on January 4, 1961, to Jerome and Velora Kay Boden. Donnie was the fourth of six children; his siblings included Virginia, Karlene, Ron, Larry, and Teresa. He died Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the Mitchell County Hospital at the age of 63.
He was raised in Beloit, graduated in 1979 from St. John's High School, and married Pamela Hamel on April 19, 1980. Although Donnie worked hard his entire life, he did not see it as work; he enjoyed it and found it relaxing. He raised hogs alongside his Dad at Hog Hotel and cleaned seed wheat at Solomon Rapids Seed, Inc. He later took ownership of both businesses and after selling Hog Hotel, he purchased a farm outside of Scottsville to raise cattle and build fence. Donnie started J-D Trucking, Inc. to keep his retired Dad busy with a few loads to Salina two to three times a week. Little did he know his Dad loved driving, and the business quickly grew and is still around 30 years later. Donnie truly valued his employees and customers and viewed them as part of his family.
Donnie's kids and grandkids were the light of his life. He took them on vacations to Branson, attended Royals games, and spent many summers camping at Waconda Lake. He loved taking everyone tubing and capturing pictures of sunsets on the lake. Holidays and birthdays were always important; each one celebrated together with a big meal he either barbequed or a recipe he found on Food Network. Donnie made sure he took the grandkids for rides on the gator to do chores and take extra laps around the house. He would always find a fun project the kids could help with and ensured he had a cooler filled with Dr. Pepper, aka "Nector of the Gods," for them to enjoy afterward.
Donnie was preceded in death by both of his parents, Pamela Boden, brother-in-law Daniel Baxa, and sister Virginia Baxa.
His children survive Donnie: Amanda (Joel) Lomax of Beloit, Jerrod (Echo) Boden of Beloit, Sara Boden of Glasco, Kathrine Boden and Levi Richardson of Delphos, Jessica Boden of Beloit, and Velora Boden of Glasco. Grandchildren: Kaden, John, Jordan, Cora, Silas, and Collin Lomax, Bristol and Waylon Boden, Braxton Loeffler, Isaac and Rowan Jamison, Lyndon Rodriguez, Lucas Richardson, and Jaidynce Watkins. Siblings: Karlene (AJ) Baxa of Beloit, Ron Boden of Beloit, Teresa (Mike) Anderson of Fredonia, and Larry (Erin) Boden of Redlands, California. Numerous nieces, nephews, and friends also survive him.
