Our family is deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Sharon Kay Eck, the fourth child of Eldon and Arlene (Vernon) Kadel. She went to be with her heavenly Father, on April 27, 2024, at the age of 63.
She was raised in Beloit, Kansas, surrounded by a loving family who enjoyed spending quality time together. They spent a lot of time camping and traveling to many states throughout the United States. She graduated from Beloit Jr.-Sr. High School in 1979. She did well in school and was an outstanding athlete. She pursued her love of art and attended art school and later found her calling as a nurse and took pride in taking care of patients and finding joy in building lifelong relationships with them.
Sharon married Doug Eck, her Kindergarten sweetheart, in 1981, and they recently celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary. They were blessed with five children, Lindsay, Lance, Jordan, Lauren, and Logan, whom she loved dearly. She and Doug's passion for fostering children allowed numerous lives to be loved and cared for in their home. They were fortunate to adopt Tory and have lovingly cared for her for the past 33 years.
Sharon had the brightest aura and a smile that would light up a room. She enjoyed being a part of her children's and grandchildren's successful achievements, attending their athletic and other school events where they achieved many accolades. She enjoyed cooking (especially her mouthwatering cinnamon rolls), tending to her rose bushes, and canning vegetables. She also loved the outdoors, fishing, and soaking up the sun rays. She had the most tender heart and love for animals so much that her home became known as the "Eck Zoo." She was known in the community for her beautiful singing at church and she was a talented musician known for being able to play any song on the piano by ear. She loved to laugh and tell the most hilarious stories that always entertained her friends and family.
Left to mourn her passing is her husband, the love of her life, Doug Eck; children, Lindsay Gray (Pat), Lance Eck, Jordan Eck, Lauren Diaz, Logan (Halie) Eck and Tory; grandchildren, Hudson, Dakota, Gunner, Zoey, Kannon, Sophia, Stella, Arison, Aiden and Scarlett.
Also left to mourn her passing are her mother, Arlene Kadel; brothers, Mike Kadel, Kelly Kadel and sister, Susan Newell; mother-in-law, Margaret Eck; brother-in-law, Jay Eck, and sisters-in-law Donna Eck and Mary Kadel. Also, a special friend, Kasey Pruitt.
She is preceded in death by her father, Eldon Kadel; father-in-law, Bernard Eck; and sister, Patty (Kadel) Smith.
Her last words were "I love you, I'm sorry and tired of hurting."
Memorial services will be at 10 AM Friday, May 3, at the St. John's Catholic Church.
A rosary service will be at 7 PM Thursday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home, and visitation with family will be from 5 PM until the rosary service begins.
